Lewis Hamilton shows solidarity with Black Lives Matter as F1 returns

As the 13 formula 1 Drivers took to their knees to show their disapproval of racism by putting on T shirts with the Writing “End Racism” Lewis Hamilton the only black driver in sport Donned a black lives matter T shirt to show his support movement which has gained global attention after the killing of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Hamilton was accused on Saturday by the Daily mail in theUk for forcing his fellow drivers to take the knee, he however denied any influence on the drivers and stated that the idea was actually raised by the Grad Prix Driver’s Association Directors Romain Grosjean and Sebastian Vettel during Friday’s drivers meeting. However, it should be noted that some drivers did not take the knee and preferred to stand; they included Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Kimi Raikkonen, Daniil Kvyat, Carlos Sainz and Antonio Giovinazzi.

Race was later on won by  Valterri Bottas the first race of racing’s new era, crossing the line 0.6 seconds clear of his Mercedes team-mate, but Hamilton was demoted to fourth following a five-second penalty after he was involved in a crash with Red Bull driver Alexander Albon in the closing stages
