The officiation in the Uganda premier league is on the spotlight again after complaints from Police FC chairman AIGP Asan Kasingye about poor officiation at viper home ground in kitende on his Twitter handle. The incident which sparked this storm was when the Police goal keeper was shown a red card by the center referee for handling the ball outside the 18 yard box. However my insignificant reviews show the goal keeper’s hands seems to be inside the box. This is not the first time Police officials are complaining about vipers and poor officiation.Remember the incident where police coach abdallah Mubiru accused the then center ref for poor officiation at the star times phillip omondi stadium on 9th October 2019. Could there be some cold bad blood on fixtures? That’s a discussion for another time. Lets concentrate on the twit the sparked social media storm.Below is the twit
This is the order of the day for @VipersSC It’s too much. We can’t keep looking on as they rape the beautiful game. Someone must stop this madness. Corruption in football has gone beyond. Vipers, together with your hired refs, shame on you!!#StopCorruptionInFootballUg
The Big question is why does controversy always involve viper?
Lets go back to history, In 2018 there was a controversy about a goal scored then by Tito okello against Express where he was clearly off side but the assistant referee allowed play to continue. It eventually resulted to the center referee Ronald kirangwa being suspend for 3 years. Concidentially he was the man in charge as Onduparaka beat Kyetume three goals to one in arua on Friday 19th 2021. Has his suspension ended??
Another incident which involved vipers at St Mary’s stadium kitende where they hosted Onduparaka and won by a 3:0 margin against the visiting side all goals coming in second half. They were so many dubious call made the center refeere however as is the norm with ugandan club officials for fear of backfires only complained in corridors of Fufa and their club dressing rooms.
Alex Gitta of Masavu was on record for complaining about poor officiation at the vipers home ground.when his said was still plying their trade in top tier league of Uganda football.
From these cases over the years wouldn’t one be right to ask this question.
What is the relationship between poor officiation and St. Mary’s stadium kitende?
